The kin of the late Ram Kelkar, who wrote the screenplay of the original “Hero,” on which Subhash Ghai and Salman Khan have made the remake that releases in September, have filed a case against them in the Film Writers’ Association and Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association, as they had been promised a royalty when the film was announced. The family has also asked for a credit line to Kelkar within the film. Kelkar’s wife was a small-time actress in the ‘60s and daughter Manisha now acts in Marathi and Hindi films. Kelkar had scripted Ghai hits like “Kalicharan,” “Vishwanath,” “Ram Lakhan” and “Khal-Nayak.”
