Without mentioning names, a local tabloid has clearly hinted that Shraddha Kapoor is jealous of Alia Bhatt and her progress — despite the fact that Kapoor has had two 100-Crore Club films (“Ek Villain” and “ABCD 2”) and a major hit in “Baaghi.” Kapoor had done an offbeat kind of cinema in “Haider” and won some acclaim, but, despite all claims by interested parties, the film was a flop and was panned for its anti-Indian, anti-army stance and shunned by many.
Bhatt, on the other hand, won acclaim for her flops like “Highway” and the recent and controversial “Udta Punjab,” in which she overshadowed all. She started with a success in “Student of the Year” and also had the 100 crore “2 States” and the hit “Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.”
In recent times, in fact, Bhatt was said to be angry with Kapoor, because boyfriend Sidharth Malhotra signed a new film with her! As with many actors and filmmakers before her, Kapoor has been completely carried away by the critical hosannas Bhatt is so effortlessly getting even as she gets the best offers, including the forthcoming Gauri Shinde film “Dear Zindagi” with Shah Rukh Khan and Bhatt’s home production “Aashiqui 3,” though “Aashiqui 2” went to Kapoor, and was her breakthrough!
After all, Bhatt is juggling the commercial and the offbeat more smartly and successfully and Kapoor is green-eyed that the former got so much glory for a flop like “Udta Punjab” vis-a-vis her superficial role in the hit “Baaghi!” Kapoor is trying to get meaningful roles but with no success as of yet.
And here we were thinking that the GenY brigade was a tight clique of friends who back-patted each other when someone did well but were secure within themselves. Just for that, we hope that the tabloid’s report is a work of fiction, as was also proved by a recent pic in which Bhatt and Malhotra were shown enjoying a (separate) break in London when according to the grapevine they were supposed to be at loggerheads due to the same Kapoor!
In a time and era where actors do not insecurely grab five, 10 or more films to score over “rivals,” can we not expect this?
