MUMBAI — Rani Mukerji went back to her alma mater, Maneckji Cooper High School, to launch the promotional video, “Oye Hichki.” Sung by Harshdeep Kaur with lyrics by Jaideep Sahni and music by Jasleen Royal, it is choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant.

The song sees Mukerji call out the prevalent social “Hichkis” (hiccups) like preference for fair skin, looking down at people with disabilities, girls not having the right to choose their life partners and so on.

This video highlights the different types of discriminations prevalent in our society today that exists in each of us and urges everyone to identify them and overcome them one by one.

Mukerji plays the character of Naina Mathur in “Hichki,” who has Tourette Syndrome, a nervous system disorder that forces an individual to make involuntary repetitive movements or sounds. The film focuses on turning disadvantages into opportunities and staring down at challenges that life throws at one and ultimately winning over them.

Directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra and produced by Maneesh Sharma, the film releases Mar. 23.
