Shah Rukh Khan and Delhi fan Deepak Kalra, who partly inspired the character of Gaurav in “Fan.”

MUMBAI — Shah Rukh Khan’s big fan Deepak Kalra partly inspired his character Gaurav in Yash Raj Films’ “Fan.”

Khan incorporated Kalra’s Delhi accent into the Delhi-ite Gaurav. Kalra is an anchor and actor, and is most famously known in the city as the biggest SRK fan. And now he has motivated his favorite actor to incorporate his personality’s unique gestures into the film.

Khan said, “Deepak recited a line to me, and the way he spoke impressed me. I have used a few personality traits of his, especially the way he makes the sound of opening a bottle’s can and kissing towards the end. He was really inspiring.”

Kalra is also there in an itsy-bitsy role in the beginning of the film.
