MUMBAI — After all the speculations, it is confirmed that it is Shraddha Kapoor who will be the “Half Girlfriend.” Not Parineeti Chopra, not Kriti Sanon, but it is the “ABCD2” actress who has grabbed the role of the film based on the Chetan Bhagat novel of the same name, which is directed by Mohit Suri. Suri repeats his pair of Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur in this film after also directing her in “Ek Villain.”
This is Kapoor’s second movie based on a book, the earlier one being “Haider” from Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.” Kapoor, who is currently busy with her next venture “Rock On!! 2,” will play an affluent Delhi girl, Riya, who Madhav, a Bihari boy, falls for, but, as she is not interested in commitment, Riya becomes his “half girlfriend.”
The film is expected to go on floors this year and will be shot in locations from Bihar to Delhi and New York.
Shooting and endorsements have kept Kapoor as busy as a bee. As of late, she has been shooting for “Baaghi” (opposite Tiger Shroff) in Bangkok, but, on one day, she left to attend a press conference for a brand, with two meetings to follow, and then returned to complete the schedule.
Reports say that Kapoor has been working continuously for 72 hours.
