SAN LEANDRO, Calif. — R.L. Stine fans planning to catch the new “Goosebumps” movie, starring “School of Rock” actor Jack Black, can catch a glimpse of Indian American actor Karan Soni as the teacher Mr. Rooney in a couple of scenes at the school.

The film follows a teenage boy named Zach (Dylan Minnette) and his mother Gale (Amy Ryan) as they make their move to Madison, Del., where Gale is the new vice principal at the local high school.

Soni can be seen briefly during the assembly at the beginning of the film when Gale introduces herself and later chaperoning the school dance with the rest of the teachers.

The actor plays Martin, one of the socially-awkward producers on Walter Blunt (Patrick Stewart)’s news show, on the Starz series “Blunt Talk,” which concluded its first season Oct. 24.

The actor is also well-known for acting in AT&T commercials and for playing Arnau in the comedic film “Safety Not Guaranteed,” which won the “Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award” at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.

“Goosebumps,” which also stars Odeya Rush, Ryan Lee, Jillian Bell and Ken Marino, released in theaters Oct. 16.
