When Season 2 of NBC’s “World of Dance” premieres May 29, American audiences will once again get to enjoy the moves of Desi Hoppers, a hip-hop group from Mumbai.

In 2015, Desi Hoppers became the first Indian team to win the World of Dance championship in Los Angeles, following which the crew, led by dancers Shantanu Maheshwari, Macedon D’mello and Nimit Kotian, was invited for a special performance on “America’s Got Talent” in 2016.

Desi Hoppers was formed through the dance show, “Bindass Naach,” with the trio holding auditions across the country in their search for the perfect dancers.

Actor/dancer Maheshwari, seen on shows like “Dil Dosti Dance,” also emerged as the winner of Season 8 of the stunt-based reality show, “Fear Factor — Khatron Ke Khiladi.”

Maheshwari will be seen with five of his teammates: Macedon D’mello, Nimit Kotian, Mohit Antony, Rohan Virus, and Niraj Lama.

Maheswari told telegraphindia.com that the crew was very excited to be performing on the show.

“We were aware that we were, in a way, representing India and that was a big responsibility,” he said. “We were the first Indian crew on what is probably the best dance reality show in the world. We had JLo, Ne-Yo and Derek as judges and they are all great dancers. The first time we went on stage, we were like, ‘Oh… we are actually here! This is something else!’ I don’t think I will be able to express my feelings in words.”

“World of Dance” will air May 29 at 10/9c on NBC, with judges Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough and NE-YO and host/mentor Jenna Dewan.

Maheshwari told the publication that the judges were very happy with their performance.

“They really liked what we did,” Maheshwari was quoted as saying. “We danced to a mix of ‘Shape of You.’ Derek was hopping on his chair. After the act, JLo said she liked our original style. She gave us a big smile. Ne-Yo came up on stage and did a couple of steps with us.”

Detailing their journey to the NBC show, Maheshwari told telegraphindia.com that winning the World of Dance championship in 2015 opened many doors for them.

“We won in 2015 and then were called back to Los Angeles for a ‘showcase’ by ‘World of Dance.’ They really liked our performance,” he said. “The casting directors of the TV show were also present there and they thought we could make for good contestants on the show. We came back to India and then we were called for an audition again and got selected. We shot at Universal Studios in Los Angeles.”
