“The Night Of” actress Poorna Jagannathan has been tapped to lead Pippa Bianco’s first feature film.
Jagannathan has booked the lead role in the untitled project, which is based on Bianco’s award-winning 11-minute short film, “Share,” Variety reports, adding that the Indian American actress will play a “tough, spirited, and active but relaxed mother.” Her life changes forever when she discovers an extremely disturbing video of her daughter is spreading around her hometown and she decides to fight for justice.
“Share” won prizes at both SXSW and Cannes.
A24 will be distributing the film with Scott Rudin, Eli Bush, Matt Parker, and Carly Hugo, and Tyler Byrne will be producing.
Jagannathan, last seen on Netflix’s psycho-drama, “Gypsy,” was also spotted on HBO’s anthology comedy, “Room 104.”
Her new film, “Daisy Winters,” hit theaters Dec. 1. She plays the role of Annabel Kumar in the film which is about an 11-year-old girl’s unconventional, yet deeply loving relationship with her mother and what happens when this essential mother/daughter bond is harshly broken.
The father-son buddy comedy, “An Actor Prepares,” will also feature the actress in the role of Dr. Fisher.
