Sridhar Rangayan, an Indian filmmaker and activist, has been named to the international jury of this year’s Outfest film festival. Outfest, which runs from July 12-22, is celebrating its 30th year, and is one of the oldest and biggest gay and lesbian film festivals in the world.
“I am excited and honored to be on the Outfest international jury. It will not only give me an opportunity to watch some of the best and latest in international queer cinema, but also enables me to talk about the nascent Indian queer cinema movement on an international platform,” Rangayan said in a statement.
Rangayan is best known in India as the festival director of the recent Kashish Mumbai International Film Festival. He is also at work on “Breaking Free,” a film about India’s recent decriminalization of homosexuality.
