San Leandro, Calif. — Audiences in Los Angeles were mesmerized by a one-of-a-kind variety show, “Tamil Mega Stars Kondattam,” at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center in Redondo Beach, Calif. on July 20.
Organized by Sangamam Academy in association with Thunder Entertainment LLC, the show saw Tamil celebrities rocking the stage with song, dance, mimicry and acrobatics.
Household names like stand-up comedian RoboShankar, dance pair Anish Rehman and Anandhi, acrobat Ganesh, singer MJ Sriram and actress Namitha, who was the chief guest, interacted with the audience and thrilled with their high-energy performances. Local celebrity Suvi Suresh also performed with the rest of the team who flew here from India.
The four-hour program was hosted by television anchor and actress Divya Darshini, more popularly known as DD, who charmed the audience with her bubbly banter and witty responses.
Anish Rehman and Anandhi impressed with their dance moves, choreographed beautifully to “Narumugaiye” and “Mangaatha.” Sandy, of “Manada Mayilada” fame, also performed his signature toe-tapping steps, telling a story through dance in his unique way.
Meanwhile, singer MJ Sriram, who has a love for Tamil film songs of the 1970s and 1980s, delivered a soul-stirring vocal performance.
There was also a Cirque Du Soleil-style act of breathtaking acrobatics put on by Ganesh, a two-time national-level skating champion.
A highlight of the evening was a live Q&A between special guest actress Namitha and the audience. Her performance with the children of the Sangamam Academy added a surprise element to the show.
“Tamil Mega Stars Kondattam,” directed by Dr. Kalaiselvam and award-winning actor and event organizer Dr. Tinku of Thunder Entertainment, attracted people from all over, including Los Angeles, San Diego and Las Vegas.
