Shagun Ajmani (previously Garima Ajmani) was seen in the negative role as Shabnam in "Jamai Raja." The actress feels the negative roles are much more challenging and interesting to play on camera and has quit the show, because her character was turning positive.
Ajmani claims, "The show was taking a leap, so I was clueless about my character's direction. The main reason for leaving the show was that they were turning Shabnam from negative to positive. Already we have four positive characters in the show; the audience does not want an overdose."
Ajmani feels a negative character also stays for a long time in the audience's heart. She is a big fan of Urvashi Dholakia, who is more famous for her negative portrayal of Komolika on Indian television.
She adds, "I have worked with Urvashi Dholakia in the show 'Geeta,' where she played my mother. I have observed her very closely; she is very good at what she does. Her portrayal of Komolika was superb. People still remember her for that."
Talking more about her fetish for playing the vamp, Ajmani says, "I prefer doing negative roles, because there is so much to learn from it and a lot of scope for performance. I don't like to cry; I make people cry."
Ajmani also dreams of playing a character like Priyanka Chopra in "Aitraaz." She feels Chopra played the character so nicely that it left an indelible mark.
