MUMBAI—Miles away from the capital, a magnificent historical fort witnessed a fairy-tale like wedding of actor Gautam Rode to his longtime girlfriend, actress Pankhuri Awasthy. The wedding festivities kicked in early Feb. 4.

Rode, a private person, had only close friends and family at the two-day extravagant affair. The wedding morning began with the ‘haldi’ ceremony as it was an out and out traditional wedding with all rituals in place.

The fort was lit up with lights and decorated with exotic flowers. The venue was also adorned with flowers and pink lights to complement the flowers. For the ‘Var Mala’ ritual, Rode made for a handsome groom in a white and gold sherwani by Pranav and Pawan, and Awasthy was in a red lehenga by the same designers with jewelry by Jaipur Jewels.

The wedding began with the ‘sehrabandi’ ceremony by Rode draping a traditional gold turban, followed by a puja. The sehra was tied by his mother and sister. Rode arrived in a vintage car for his baraat accompanied by his father and nephew. The baraat saw Gauahar and Nigaar Khan and Saurav Pandey dancing with the other guests. All the groomsmen wore similar yellow turbans.

After the kanyadaan ceremony was done by the Awasthys, the couple undertook the seven pheras. The wedding went on till 7 am in the morning in freezing temperatures.
