Shantanu Maheshwari, along with his Desi Hoppers crew, was invited by the "America’s Got Talent" team last month to perform in the 11th season of the talent show. Since the show is not only limited to American citizens, Maheshwari went to the U.S. and gave his best.

The actor, who was last seen in "Dil Dosti Dance" and "Girls on Top," said: “The 'AGT' team had approached us directly to come up and perform in the show, so, after all the coordination, we decided to go there and give it our best shot. The show is not limited to citizens of the U.S. but is open to entertainers in general from every field and country. We had our performance on the show just the day after we landed in Pasadena in California. So trying our best to not give into our jet lag, we practiced thoroughly and geared up for our performance the next day. There’s a live audience watching the show, and it was quite nerve-racking. We performed on two songs — one English and one Hindi: 'Tukur Tukur' from 'Dilwale' and 'Turn Down for What' by Lil Jon and DJ Snake.”

It’s a known fact that pleasing Simon Cowell is the toughest job, and he is a tough nut to crack. But it seems the judge was impressed by their performance.

“We’d heard it will be hard to impress Simon, but fortunately he really liked our act, including the other judges Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Mel B. We actually got a standing ovation and thumbs up from all four judges post the performance, which was the best feeling ever. Simon mentioned that he liked how we had stuck to our roots and incorporated the Indian element in our performance, and that overall our coordination was really good and our performance was quite expressive,” Maheshwari said.

"It was really amazing to see that post our performance when we went out to give a few bytes, a lot of the audience actually came out to cheer and congratulate us. It was a one-of-a-kind experience to be performing on an international platform with such great exposure,” he added.

While they’ve gotten thumbs ups from all the judges and are technically selected for level two, they are not so sure about making it back to the U.S. It’s an expensive affair, and they may not be able to keep going and coming back every time. The team is still in the queue and waiting for a confirmation from the "AGT" team to find out if they will be called back for level two or not. The other dancers in his team include Macedon Dmello, Nimit Kotian, Subhash Naidu, Niraj Lama and Rohan Vyas.
