Mumbai — Star Plus recently announced the launch of its most awaited series, “Everest,” a story of a girl’s struggle to win her father’s acceptance, set against the backdrop of Mount Everest. The serial has been conceptualized, shot and presented on a huge scale, and debuts Nov. 3.

Uday Shankar, CEO, Star India, said at the launch, “Star has always endeavored to make innovative content that takes the television viewing experience to the next level. We are proud to have partnered with a visionary like Ashutosh Gowariker who is one of the most adept story-tellers of our country. I am sure that the story of our protagonist Anjali will resonate with millions in India and inspire them to conquer their own Everests.”

Writer-producer Ashutosh Gowariker, and Gaurav Banerjee, general manager, Star Plus, launched the show by unveiling the cast. The series has brought together artists from both films and television and launches Shamata Anchan as Anjali Singh Rawat, the gutsy girl who wins her father’s love and respect. The male leads are Sahil Salathia and Rohan Gandotra.

The cast also includes Suhasini Mulay, Mohan Kapoor, Milind Gunaji, Rajat Kapoor, Kishori Shahane Vij and Manish Choudhary.

The show emanates from a belief that everyone has a personal Everest they aspire to conquer, but the question is how far they are willing to go to conquer it.

The channel recently launched the campaign of the show on radio and social media, asking viewers, “Whats Your Everest?” The channel has also tied up with presenting sponsor Fair & Lovely’s Fair & Lovely Foundation, through which select individuals will get monetary and other assistance to conquer their own Everests and fulfill their dreams.
