Karan Soni has added a little zing to Diet Coke.
The Indian American actor has picked up an endorsement deal with Diet Coke, which is revamping its look after 35 years, and introducing four new flavors in an attempt to appeal to a younger generation.
The company explained that while the original Diet Coke formula remains untouched, saying, “We don’t disrespect our fandom. We cherish it…you inspire us. It’s why we’ve got a refreshing new look and flavors,” the new flavors, it said, have been introduced because “We wanted to try something totally new and because why not? We took ordinary fruit flavors and dialed them to 11.”
The new flavors, which include Feisty Cherry, Ginger Lime, Twisted Mango, and Zesty Blood Orange, are available in sleek, 12-oz. cans.
The company posted a boomerang video on Twitter showing the “Deadpool” actor posing with a sleek can of Diet Coke, with a caption: “same great flavor. new insta-worthy can. #DietCoke.”
The new marketing campaign, according to the company, will be “more authentic, gender neutral and diverse.”
“Millennials are now thirstier than ever for adventures and new experiences, and we want to be right by their side,” Rafael Acevedo, Diet Coke’s North American director, said in a release. “We’re modernizing what has made Diet Coke so special for a new generation. The same unapologetic confidence still comes through and the same great Diet Coke taste people love is here to stay, but we’re making the brand more relatable and more authentic.”
Diet Coke’s new look and flavors are expected to launch later this month.
