An Indian American engineer was found dead April 4, in his home near Cincinnati, Ohio.
Praveen Kumar Sinha, who had immigrated to the U.S. just three months earlier with his wife Shweta, was found on the kitchen floor of his home. Investigators said the 33-year-old man likely died the previous evening, but have released no other clues about his manner of death. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation.
Police have ruled out foul play. An autopsy report is expected to be completed in June. Sinha’s wife Shweta, who had just had their first child, was in Atlanta, Georgia at the time of her husband’s death, visiting her in-laws.
Sinha’s brother, Naveen, who lives in Atlanta, told The Cincinnati Enquirer that police were called to his home on April 4 after a colleague Praveen rode to work with every day couldn't get hold of him. They had had a meeting at 8:30 a.m., earlier than their typical start, so when Praveen didn't show up, his co-workers assumed he overslept.
Sinha did not show up to work that day, prompting his colleagues to call police; the young man was dead by the time police arrived. He died around 11 p.m. April 3, according to a gofundme page.
Naveen Sinha told the newspaper that his brother had called his family on the night of his death, and sounded happy and normal. Naveen said his brother had just made chappatis.
"How can a healthy, young person die just like that?" his brother told The Enquirer. "We are still not able to believe."
Sinha’s body was flown back to India for final rites. A cremation was conducted April 12 on the banks of the Ganges River near Patna. Later that evening, Sinha’s father took his son’s ashes to Varanasi for ‘Asthi Visarjan’. His ashes were immersed early morning April 13 in Varanasi, according to Naveen Sinha’s comments on the gofundme page. The page has collected more than $17,000 of a $20,000 goal, which will be given to Sinha’s widow Shweta.
“Friends, family and everyone who knew him were in deep shock and having a hard time to believe the news. Praveen by nature is a very gentle, always smiling, friendly, warm welcoming human. Never does he know to complain,” wrote Naveen Sinha on the gofundme page.
